Quincey Koziol

The HDF Group
Director of Core Software and HPC
Urbana-Champaign, Illinois Area
Mr. Koziol has been the principal software architect for the HDF5 software project from its inception. HDF5 represents a revolutionary approach to providing fast, portable serial and parallel I/O, data sharability and application interoperability. In this effort, Mr. Koziol has designed and helped build a large software middleware project that is relied upon by many high-performance software simulation codes worldwide, along with multiple commercial software projects.  (http://www.hdfgroup.org/HDF5)Mr. Koziol actively coordinates collaborations with both applications that use HDF5, through work with application developers at Lawrence Livermore National Laboratory, Lawrence Berkeley National Laboratory, and Sandia National Laboratory and with MPI implementations that HDF5 depends on, through work with the MPICH implementers at Argonne National Laboratory and OpenMPI implementers at Oak Ridge National Laboratory.  Engaging communities above and below the HDF5 layer ensures that HDF5 stays relevant and is updated with changes in technology.
